On April 30, a delegation from Zhu Xianyi Memorial Hospital of Tianjin Medical University visited Tianjin University of Science and Technology for discussion and exchange. Relevant responsible personnel and faculty representatives from the College of Biotechnology attended the meeting, which was presided over by Sun Hua, Vice Dean of the College of Biotechnology.
Du Yangang, Party Secretary of the College of Biotechnology, extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Zhu Xianyi Memorial Hospital of Tianjin Medical University. He systematically introduced the College's discipline development pattern, undergraduate-master-doctor talent cultivation system, as well as the important scientific research achievements made in cutting-edge fields such as precise drug synthesis, low-carbon biochemical engineering, future food manufacturing and intelligent biomaterials. He pointed out that in recent years, the College has continuously deepened the integration of industry and education, with horizontal cooperation projects expanding steadily and the capacity for achievement transformation improving progressively. It is expected that the two sides will strengthen collaboration in fields including the prevention and treatment of metabolic diseases, the R&D of functional foods, and the transformation of medicinal and edible homologous products, so as to promote the efficient transformation of basic research into clinical applications.
Li Jing, Vice Dean of Zhu Xianyi Memorial Hospital of Tianjin Medical University, expressed gratitude to the College for its warm reception. He stated that as the first specialized hospital featuring diabetes in China, Zhu Xianyi Memorial Hospital of Tianjin Medical University has accumulated rich clinical resources, systematic patient cohorts and a biological sample bank. At present, the hospital is actively promoting scientific research transformation. It hopes to rely on the scientific research advantages of Tianjin University of Science and Technology in fermentation engineering, biomaterials and functional foods to jointly advance the key technology tackling of functional dressings for diabetic feet, uric-acid-lowering active products, foods for special medical purposes and the improvement of hospital preparations, so as to realize the two-way empowerment of clinical demands and scientific research innovation.
Sun Hua introduced the College's history, the construction of scientific research platforms and the outstanding achievements in achievement transformation. Faculty representatives respectively reported the latest research progress around the R&D of intelligent dressings for diabetic feet, the study on the uric-acid-lowering activity mechanism of natural products, and the pharmacological evaluation and model construction of metabolic diseases.
In the exchange session, the two sides focused on in-depth discussions over topics including the joint R&D of functional foods related to metabolic diseases, the improvement of hospital preparations and the optimization of flavoring technologies, the co-construction and sharing of clinical sample bank resources, the joint cultivation of high-level talents and the collaborative application of scientific research projects, and reached a preliminary cooperation intention. Both sides agreed that they will sort out and refine the specific docking directions, promote the establishment of a long-term cooperation mechanism, and jointly build a demonstration benchmark for the collaborative innovation of medicine, education and research.
