A Delegation from Chinese Medical Association and Tianjin Medical Association Visits Tianjin University of Science and Technology


On May 8, a delegation from Chinese Medical Association and Tianjin Medical Association visited Tianjin University of Science and Technology for discussion and exchange. Relevant responsible personnel and faculty representatives from the College of Biotechnology attended the meeting, which was presided over by Du Yangang, Party Secretary of the College of Biotechnology.

Du Yangang extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Chinese Medical Association and Tianjin Medical Association, and introduced the history and development overview of the university. He pointed out that under the guidance of the university's Top Tust, the College has always adhered to reflecting value through contribution and realizing development through services, deeply cultivated the integration of university-local and university-enterprise cooperation, steadily expanded horizontal scientific research cooperation, and significantly improved the efficiency of scientific and technological achievement transformation. It is expected that the two sides will strengthen collaboration in the integration of industry-university-research, key technology tackling and joint talent cultivation, accelerate the transformation and implementation of scientific research achievements to the front line of clinical practice and industry, and provide strong support for serving regional economic and social development as well as industrial upgrading.

Jiang Huifeng, Dean of the College of Biotechnology, systematically introduced the College's discipline development, talent cultivation and scientific research platform construction, with a focus on demonstrating the breakthrough achievements made in cutting-edge fields such as low-carbon biochemical engineering, intelligent future food manufacturing, intelligent biomaterials and precise drug synthesis.

Gong Ketong, Standing Committee Member of the Hand Surgery Branch of Chinese Medical Association, Chairman of the Tissue Repair and Regeneration Branch of Tianjin Medical Association, and Director of the Orthopedic Center of Tianjin Kanghui Hospital, introduced the basic situation and resource advantages of the associations. He stated that it hopes to rely on the profound accumulation of the College of Biotechnology in fermentation engineering, new drug R&D and functional foods to collaboratively promote the tackling of key generic technologies such as stem cells and tissue repair, so as to realize the two-way empowerment of clinical demands and scientific research innovation.

Bai Jianli, Secretary-General of the Tissue Repair and Regeneration Branch of Tianjin Medical Association and Secretary of the Orthopedic Center of Tianjin Kanghui Hospital, shared professional insights around the clinical practice paths and technical bottlenecks of wound repair. Wang Hao, Chief Physician of General Surgery at Tianjin Medical University General Hospital, National Committee Member of the Tissue Repair and Regeneration Branch of Chinese Medical Association, and Vice Chairman of the Tissue Repair and Regeneration Branch of Tianjin Medical Association, elaborated in depth on the development opportunities contained in fields such as organ transplantation, stem cell research and scientific research achievement transformation. Qiu Ke, President of Tianjin Medical Health Industry Chamber of Commerce, made a forward-looking analysis from dimensions including medical testing, the strategic layout of the big health industry and the collaborative innovation of medical institutions and enterprises. Yang Jun, Professor of the College of Life Sciences of Nankai University and Vice Chairman of the Tissue Repair and Regeneration Branch of Tianjin Medical Association, shared the basic research innovation and transformation application prospects of biomaterials.

At the exchange symposium, Sun Hua and Zhang Cuiying, Vice Deans of the College of Biotechnology, together with faculty representatives, respectively introduced the scientific research fields, innovative achievements and latest research progress of their teams. The two sides focused on in-depth discussions over topics including the development of functional foods, tissue repair materials, the R&D of medical dressings and the joint application for scientific research projects, and initially reached a cooperation intention.
