Recently, the selection results of the "One Integration, Two Highs — Hundreds of Secretaries Solve Hundreds of Problems" project for Tianjin's universities were officially announced. After procedures including self-inspection and summary by project entities, review and verification by university Party committees, and expert evaluation organized by the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, the final "Top 10" projects were selected from 100 municipal-wide projects. The project "Party Building Leads, Pioneers Navigate — Bio-Enzyme Technology Breakthrough and Industry-Education Integration Boost Tianjin's High-Quality Development" submitted by the Applied Microbiology Faculty Party Branch of the College of Biotechnology, Tianjin University of Science and Technology, was successfully selected as one of the "Top 10" projects. This project aims to promote the implementation of the "Empower Top Talents" cultivation plan and the "Strengthen the Country Tour" special action for university faculty Party branch secretaries who are "dual leaders" (political and professional leaders), focus on difficulties and bottlenecks in primary-level Party building, teaching and research, serving teachers and students, and promoting development, and solve problems to drive development through the model of secretaries taking charge and the whole branch tackling challenges.

Targeting the major demand of the biomedical and food industries for bio-enzyme preparations, the Applied Microbiology Faculty Party Branch of the College of Biotechnology takes breaking the "stuck neck" problems such as low activity and poor thermal stability of industrial enzyme preparations as a breakthrough, leads all branch members to make joint efforts, and explores and forms a closed-loop ecology of "Party Building Leadership — Technological Breakthrough — Industrial Upgrading". The Party branch has successively carried out joint Party building activities with many enterprises including Dynamiker Biotechnology (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., Guangdong VTR Bio-Tech Co., Ltd., and Shandong Longkete Enzyme Preparation Co., Ltd. Taking joint Party building as a link, it deepens industry-university-research cooperation, breaks through the core technical bottlenecks of industrial enzyme preparations in functional evolution, efficient expression and green manufacturing, and develops more than 10 new enzyme preparation products with independent intellectual property rights, with technical achievements reaching the international advanced level. The branch has successively taken the lead in undertaking 49 national key projects including the National Key R&D Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, won more than 20 scientific and technological awards of various types, including 1 Second Prize of the National Technology Invention Award, 2 Excellence Awards of the China Patent Award, 3 Gold Awards of the Tianjin Patent Award, the First Prize of Hubei Science and Technology Award, and the First Prizes of both the Science and Technology Progress Award and the Technology Invention Award of China National Light Industry Council. Relevant deeds have been specially reported more than 100 times in total by national and municipal mainstream media such as People's Daily, Xuexi Qiangguo, University Ideological and Political Education Network, CRI Online, Tianjin News, Tianjin Party Branch Life, Tianjin Party Building Pioneer, Science and Technology Daily and Tianjin Daily. Taking "project-based courses" as the entry point, the branch also constructs an innovative talent cultivation model that aligns course content with technological development and matches talent cultivation with industrial demands, trains a group of biotechnology professionals that meet the needs of enterprises, and plays a good exemplary and radiating role across the country.
